Trisha -
I recently heard about your negative life experience, as you have so aptly called it. In doing my own research, I found your podcasts. I am so sorry that you have had to deal with this, however most of all I am overwhelmingly impressed with your determination and unselfishness. As difficult as it is for you to speak, you should know that the kindness has not gone out of your voice. I just felt I needed to tell you. In my research I also found information about the NPR reporter Diane Rehm, who also has SD. Coincidently, she will be in Cleveland speaking at our church (Trinity Cathedral) and at CSU on the 30th and 31st. She has a book called "Finding My Voice" - perhaps you have read it.

Hello! How are you! Thanks for having the courage to speak! My name is Bessie Cherry. I've suffered with Spasmodic Dysphonia-AB since I was 22 years old. I developed it after enduring an emotional trauma. I'm 29 now. I used to be a broadcaster for a tv station until I developed the disorder. Now, I'm a print journalist. I've got a Communications/News Editorial degree. I've found that the hardest thing about living with SD is trying to cope with how others treat you. I've been spoken to like a child.
